Annual desensitization to respiratory allergens

Relieve symptoms, but also treat the cause

Desensitization consists of gradually exposing the patient's body to the allergens to which they are sensitive, in order to make them tolerant.

Respiratory allergen desensitization treatments have the advantage of treating several allergies at once. Allergens are added to the solution in therapeutic doses (ml of allergens) and not as a percentage of allergens. The addition of several allergens will therefore not affect the dilution of one another.

Perennial treatments (injectable)

A kit for this treatment normally includes all allergens relevant to each patient, but two kits may be necessary to cover all allergies.

Injections are administered throughout the year, following a two-phase protocol:

Phase 1: Progression Phase

The patient receives one injection per week, gradually increasing in volume and concentration according to the protocol, moving from vial #1 (least concentrated) to vial #4 (most concentrated).

Phase 2: Interview Phase

The patient receives injections once a month. The maintenance dose is determined by the specialist, based on the patient's tolerance to the desensitization treatment.

Efficiency rate

Scientists report an 80 to 85% efficacy rate for aeroallergen (or pneumallergen) allergies such as pollen, dust mites, pet dander, etc.

It has been well demonstrated that improvement persists after treatment discontinuation. In more than half of aeroallergen allergy cases, the improvement will be permanent, but in other cases, symptoms may reappear after about ten years. It will then be possible to resume treatment if the doctor deems it necessary.
